President Kim Jong-un's lookalike gleefully sticks up his middle finger as he watches the athletics in Rio (Photos)

North Korean athletes are being carefully monitored by government officials at the Olympics as they venture outside Pyongyang.

But crowds were surprised to spot what appeared to be the president himself, Kim Jong-un, gracing the stands in Rio and proudly waving the flag of his controversial nation.

In an uncharacteristic gesture, the leader then gleefully stuck his middle finger up at the cameras.

But, of course, it was only a lookalike who had chosen to watch the athletics, track and field events in costume.
The jolly fan had even adopted the leader's trademark swept back undercut hairstyle, and donned his distinctive two-piece army black suit.

But not all of the state's citizens appeared to be having a good time at the Olympics.
