The German tactician will welcome the possibility of a return of Vincent Enyeama to the Super Eagles after he untimely retired following a rift with former head coach, Sunday Oliseh.
Vincent Enyeama
Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed that former skipper Vincent Enyeama will return to the national team if Nigeria qualifies for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Edition.
The German stated this in an interview with CompleteSports.
He responded with an answer that indicated that he made a successful attempt to call Enyeama and convince him to return from retirement to a question that was directed to him on if he will replace the arguably best goalkeeper in Africa with Carl Ikeme due to his recent impressive performance for the Super Eagles.
According to him, both Carl and Enyeama will be very good goalkeepers for the Eagles, acting as surrogations for each other.
Excerpt:
With Carl's performance in goal, do the Super Eagles still need Vincent Enyeama?
"Yes, I said it that I wanted Vincent Enyeama to return from retirement and I called him and we spoke with him. He will come back if we qualify for the World Cup.
"We need very good goalkeepers in the Eagles. We have two local goalkeepers whom I don't know if they will fit in if Carl sustains an injury, so I think we need two big goalkeepers. Of course for this moment, Carl is number one. We cannot change him, he will be number one for the next game."
