The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Rotimi Akeredolu for the November 26 governorship election has vowed to reinstate the 60 Lecturers of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) that were recently sacked by the management of the institution.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said this on Saturday when his campaign train stormed Akungba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

Akeredolu, fondly called AKETI by his admirers also promised to establish AAUA College of Medicine if elected.

It was gathered that 60 varsity Dons were dismissed on the order of the outgoing Governor, Segun Mimiko for protesting against the management of the institution over the non-payment of their salaries and allowances for 7 months.

The sacked Academic Activists were also accused of submitting petition against the management of the institution to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

"I am here today first and foremost to thank you for your usual support for me"
Akeredolu declared amidst thunderous applause from over 5,000 supporters of the APC at the event.

It would be recalled that Akeredolu emerged victorious in Akungba Akoko when he flagged as the candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2012 governorship election in the state.

"I want to assure you again that I remain committed to the development of Akungba land. The only way I can immortalize our father, Adefarati is to develop Akungba."

Adefarati was the governor of Ondo State between 1999 to 2003. He hails from Akungba Akoko.

Speaking further, Akeredolu said: "By God grace, if you vote for me and I am returned elected, I will establish AAUA College of Medicine. The 60 lecturers sacked from our university for demanding for their legitimate rights shall be reinstated with all deserving benefits fully paid.

"The roads around Akungba metropolis shall be given a sanctimonious attention. I can assure you that you won't have any cause to regret if you send me to Alagbaka"
, he assured.

Responding on behalf of the people of Akungba, the President of Akungba Development Union, Rev. Femi Ekundayo assured Akeredolu that the people of the town will not betray Adefarati by voting for those who sent him into early grave.

Akeredolu had before coming to Akungba moved his campaign team to Oba-Akoko, Ikun-Akoko, Supare-Akoko and Etioro Akoko.

On the campaign train with Akeredolu were fomer Deputy Governor of the state, Alli Olanusi, the Director General of the campaign, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Former Speaker, Taofiq Abdusalam, the scion of the Adefarati dynasty, Gboyega and all APC members in the state House of Assembly.
